Montignac has a busy market in the town centre around the quayside and church every Wednesday morning. There are stalls selling lovely fresh vegetables and fruit, locally produced honey, cheese, fish, paella, rotisserie chicken, olives and of course wine and duck products. There are also stalls with plants, jewellery, clothes, baskets, linen and souvenirs (croaking wooden frogs, name bracelets and craft items); more of these stalls in high season.
There is a smaller farmers’ market on Saturday morning selling food from local producers.
There are similar weekly markets in all the neighbouring villages and towns on different days of the week.
Sarlat has a large market in the medieval town centre and market hall every Saturday morning and a slightly smaller one on Wednesday morning well worth a visit but very busy in high season.
